Hold Your Special Event
at Gadsby’s
Tavern Restaurant
Built in 1792 as the City Hotel, this building, noted for its exquisite Georgian architecture, has been preserved and restored to a late 18th century appearance and now houses Gadsby’s Tavern. The original tavern, built circa 1770 and adjoining the current tavern, is today home to the Gadsby’s Tavern Museum. No building in America is more intimately associated with the struggle for independence and establishment of national sovereignty. For nearly a century Gadsby’s Tavern was a center of political, social and cultural life in this important seaport community. Today, Gadsby’s Tavern Restaurant faithfully replicates the food, serving pieces, furnishings, costumes and entertainment of the period. Our courtyard serves as an adjunct to the three indoor dining rooms during the spring, summer and fall seasons. Those who visit Gadsby’s Tavern today enjoy an atmosphere that has been host to patriots, high society and presidents, including George Washington, who conducted his final review of his troops on our front steps. Dine with us today and step back in time to the infancy of our nation, a time of high hopes and high spirits, fine food and colonial hospitality.
