At the corner of Prince and Royal Streets
in Old Town Alexandria is the historic Concordia Hotel, built in 1880
and now converted into an antique store and The Prince Royal Gallery.
The gallery is Alexandria's oldest impressionist art gallery, established
in 1977, and the main display room is the historic hotel's ballroom.
The gallery is easy to find - a large yellow flag marks the entrance.

The gallery's 40-plus artists range from
emerging but talented painters to those of national and international
renown, including two whose work is in the permanent collection of the
Smithsonian Institution. The paintings include landscapes, seascapes,
urban scenes, still lifes and florals in oils, watercolors, pastels
and etchings. Most of the work is impressionist, but realist and
primitive paintings are also exhibited.

The sculpture includes allegorical works
in bronze and abstract forms in wood and stone. One of the more prominent
artists is P. Buckley Moss, and an entire corner of the gallery is devoted
to her work. In addition to her watercolors and etchings, the gallery
carries over 1000 different limited edition Moss prints.

Custom framing is available in house. The
gallery hosts eight shows a year including a special show each spring
for children with learning disabilities.
