What makes Old Town Masterpieces different is that it is a family business
all the way from the direct importation to the management of the gallery on King
Street in the center of Old Town Alexandria. The store is run by two brothers in
law. They are the third generation in their family in the business. And they
have a brother situated in Hamburg, Germany managing the importation of the
rugs. Hamburg is the hub internationally for Persian and Oriental rugs. There is
a tax free zone and all of the big rug warehouses are there. So they are very
competitive in prices because there are truly no middle men involved.
Old Town Masterpieces has been on King Street for twenty years. The inventory
is mostly one of a kind, but they also carry program lines. They are very strong
in odd sizes, tribal rugs, vegetable and natural dye rugs, and unique items.
Over fifty percent of their business is done with designers and decorators.
