Fresh Produce ~ We cater to the culinary diversity of Washington market by offering an abundance of international and exotic fruits and vegetables from around the world.
Yellow tomatoes and Key limes are available all year round. Our energetic and busy produce buyer returned from a trip to Mexico and brought back special Champagne mangoes and Maridol papayas, big as footballs and prized in southwestern cooking! No item is to humble for our special attention. Potatoes are comfort food for all. Our restaurant size Idaho potatoes are formidable--bigger than you find in most steakhouses. On the opposite side of the spectrum, we always have a good supply of those tiny red, white, and Yukon gold potatoes, about the size of marbles and packed in quart containers--always fresh and always easy to fix. Our produce buyer is especially proud of our Louisiana sweet potatoes, and we encourage you to try them. We believe local is best whenever possible. Magruder's is very proud of its relationships with its growers. Lots of big stores can't take advantage of local produce in the same way that our small group of neighborhood stores can. In the summer, farmers in upper Montgomery County and the Eastern Shore bring us home grown tomatoes, berries, green beans, lima beans, and watermelons. You get the true flavor from the field to your dining table in a matter of hours and days, not weeks. Our produce is as fresh and flavorful as any farmers market!
Quality Meats ~ Magruder’s is also a full service butcher shop. They offer only the best cuts of beef and poultry, such as prime Black Angus beef, Purdue chicken, and many other premium brands. The butcher at the store will bone, cut and trim your selection in any manner that you select. Magruder's is the only group of markets licensed to sell Certified Angus. Beef in Washington. Certified Angus Beef is selected from the top 7 percent of Angus cattle that has met ridged quality standards for marbling, tenderness, and leanness. All Certified Angus Beef is labeled at least Choice by the USDA, and some is USDA prime, but at Magruder's you pay no more for this choice product than for lower grades beef in larger markets. Served in 5-star restaurants, this beef can now be served in your home. Magruder's is pleased to offer you the highest quality and best tasting poultry available. Magruder's Gold Label chickens are all natural USDA Grade A birds, raised for us by a grower in Delaware and selected for our stores for their consistent quality and flavor. Our chickens have no added preservatives, artificial ingredients, artificial coloring agents or growth hormones. If you are looking for the well-known Perdue chickens, we have those too.
Deli ~ Magruder’s operates a comprehensive full service deli with virtually every meat and cheese on your list, cut to your request. Magruder's has been offering Deitz & Watson gourmet deli meats for years. Deitz & Watson is your guarantee of the worlds finest delicatessen products. They use only the freshest quality hams, turkey and natural spices with no artificial flavors, colors, fillers, or extenders. Washingtonians love our chicken salad, which is made from the finest quality ingredients: boneless, grade A, all-natural chicken breasts, Hellman's mayonnaise, and fresh celery. Also available are seafood salad, tuna salad, and a variety of signature salads. Bakery ~ Magruder's also has a full service bakery at most of their locations. With the smell of fresh baked bread in the air, the bakers go about preparing the goods for the day. From our signature breads, bagels, cakes, cookies, focaccias, and more, the quality is second to none. Magruder’s also carries authentic pita and Afghan breads, which are delivered from local bakers each day. Sheet cakes can be decorated for that special occasion. Every one loves our challah, cheese loaf, and onion rolls.
