ABOUT THE ARTIST

Todd Healy - a native Virginian was born in Portsmouth, Virginia. He grew up in a household of art. His father was a navy pilot and illustrator for the military magazine, "Approach".

Todd studied art in southern California and central Florida, working in many mediums and styles. After moving to Alexandria, Virginia in 1976, he began to blend his unique style with subject and medium. It was then that he published his first series of limited edition prints of Historic Alexandria, Virginia. His pen and ink drawings reveal a simplicity that almost masks his attention to detail in the painstaking rendering of each brick and ornament. His perspective is technically accurate but by no means photographic. His technique is meticulous but certainly not mechanical, honoring every detail of this countries early craftsmen. His warm drawings and hand colored limited edition prints of historic cities have become his trademark.

Todd founded his own company (HISTORIC CARDS AND PRINTS) in 1987 to satisfy the growing demand for his distinctive style of interpreting not only the buildings themselves but the sense of  history, craftsmanship, and feeling one gets when living or visiting these individual places. He has worked endlessly to make his art accessible to all with a passion for history. He was commissioned by the Richmond Marriott hotel; developer Charles E. Smith; radio personality Renee Chaney; Casey's department store in Williamsburg, Virginia; Pan American Air Lines; Katie Couric of NBC's Today Show; Mary Furlong, ceo of Third Age...to name a few.
