GALLERY WEST Gallery West is the oldest artist-owned and operated fine arts gallery in Northern Virginia. Since its founding in 1979, Gallery West has served as a unique cultural resource for the entire Washington area. |

| Located in historic Old Town Alexandria, the gallery serves as the
artistic "home" for twenty-plus accomplished and emerging artists working
in a variety of media, including watercolors, oil, photography, sculpture,
collage, and wood-working. Works by the gallery’s artists can be found in
numerous public and private collections.
The gallery is organized as an art "cooperative," which makes it different from the standard commercial gallery. In an art cooperative the artist members serve as the gallery’s owners and operators, handling everything from creating the art and hanging the shows to staffing the gallery, preparing publicity, and managing finances. |

Gallery West’s status as a cooperative gallery provides unique benefits to the gallery’s patrons as well as to its artist members. Visitors to the gallery will find a diverse cross-section of styles and media represented — traditional to cutting-edge — and all at affordable prices. The gallery’s artists, in turn, have the freedom to experiment with new and different styles or media, unconstrained by the more formal boundaries of a commercial gallery. |

Gallery West’s street-side gallery near the center of Old Town provides a gracious setting for the gallery’s regular monthly group shows. Single artist "solo" shows are also scheduled on a rotating basis throughout the year. The gallery sponsors an annual open juried show which attracts participants from across the nation. |
